Bachelors of Sacred Theology(BST)
Bachelors of Christian Education(BCe)



 

                  "Amherst Theological Seminary is a religious institution exempt from
                       state regulation and oversight in the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
Amherst Theological Seminary offers a Bachelors of Sacred Theology as well as a  Bachelors of
Christian Education. A student who has been awarded an appropriate Bible Bachelors degree may
petition in writing to bypass the Bachelors Degree sequence. Course credits from other recognized
Bible programs may be accepted upon examination of the student's transcript. Upon successful
completion of all course requirements the student will be conferred a Bachelors degree. The student
may then continue to the Masters Level.

BACHELOR OF SACRED THEOLOGY PROGRAM:

 

The Bachelors program is designed to give the student a comprehensive understanding of integral

books of the Bible and Biblical concepts.  Each course has been designed to be as concise and clear

as possible while communicating the message. Our courses are designed to present the material in

such a way as to economize on the time spent, yet facilitate a comprehensive understanding.

The 8 survey courses listed here require the student to answer open book, short answer questions

that are thought provoking and insightful. The questions require the student to think and reflect.

Upon submission of the students answers, the student will review their answers with the mentor. 

The student may use any valid christian resources.

in which the student will research the topic using valid Christian resources. Upon submission of

of the essays, the student will review their essays with the mentor.

Research & discuss the various ways to spread the great news.

CT-180 ISSUES IN MINISTRY

Research and discuss issues facing those who enter into ministry

CT-200 "THORNY" ISSUES IN CHRISTIANITY

Research and discuss various issues that face Christianity today. What

are appropriate, thoughtful, and empathetic responses to the LGBTQ?

Same-sex marriage? Abortion? Women in leadership? Politics in the pulpit?

Racism? "White sovereignty"? Sexism and patriarchy? You will pick 5

"thorny" issues facing the church and address them following the 

instructions given above.

BACHELORS' THESIS:

Create and deliver a sermon series consisting of at least 3 sermons

on the subject of the student's choice, with the approval of the

student's mentor and the vice chancellor

 

THE STATEMENT OF THE CALL:

Write an essay that describes what you feel your calling is

and how you think the Spirit is leading you.
